Liza Minnelli was born on March 12th, 1946, in Hollywood, California to the legendary Judy Garland and her husband Vincente Minnelli who was the director of such films as Meet Me in St Louis (1944), The Pirate (1948), An American in Paris (1951), The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and Gigi (1958). It’s safe to say that Liza Minnelli had big shoes to fill considering that she was following in the footsteps of her own mother whose career began at the age of five after winning a talent competition at MGM Studios.

She was born Liza May Minnelli in Hollywood, California, to Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli. Her father was a director and choreographer who worked with his then-wife, Garland, as well as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.
Minnelli first appeared on stage at the age of four in 1948 at the Shoreham Theatre in Washington D.C., where her mother was performing her final show before signing off to live solely with her daughter. From then on she would be known for having been born into show business. As her father became more successful, so did she.
